About

Hi, my name is Jung-min Yeo. Thank you for visiting my blog. This is a space where I want to share my thoughts regarding films and cinema studies books. Yes, I am the editor of this blog, but please feel free to post your opinions here. I have worked in several independent film productions from 2012-2013, and now I am studying in New York University Tisch Cinema Studies Master of Arts course. My main interest of study is historical and procedural understanding of American film industry. On top of that, of course, theoretical studies is also attractive. I believe it is hard to pay for myself unless I combine theoretical and practical studies.

It is demanding whenever they ask me what my favorite film is because Star Wars brought a tremendous impact in my life. First of all, its vast mythic story has fascinated me. Also, at least until Revenge of the Sith, this franchise has been technological pioneer. It has been almost 40 years since the monumental release of A New Hope, and now it is more than a mere serial. It is a cultural phenomenon and national ritual, which generates ancillary products and parodies.

Currently I am attending Professor Marina Hassapopoulou's lecture, Film Theory Through the Senses. Before studying in NYU, I had desperately been looking for theoretical studies because without such ground, conveying my idea and imagination was crippled. Consequently, I want to find out the relation between cinematic discourse and spectatorship. I hope it will help me aligning my perspective alongside that of spectators'.
